    Hayek Tops Bestseller List

    By Kyle | June 11, 2010

Number one bestselling book on Amazon is by ….Friedrich Hayek? Backordered, sold out, shipping in one to three weeks? Someone tell Cafe Hayek!

Yes, Hayek selling like hotcakes! Thanks to a Glenn Beck plug. Question: What percentage of the copies of “Road to Serfdom” sold this week will actually be completely read?

I doubt if Beck has read the entirety of “The Road to Serfdom.”

A low percentage. I wondered how many people read three complete Faulkner novels during Oprah’s “Summer of Faulkner.”

answer to your question: about 20% will finish. Another 33% will get about halfway through. Another 20% will read the intro. and the rest will keep it in a prominent place on their bookshelf/nightstand to help get in the pants of Federalist Society chicks.

Ahem, Floyd — get into the _skirt-suits_ of Federalist Society chicks!

Because pant-suits might cause someone to mistake them for, horror of horrors, a feminist.

Don’t know. It’s a hard book to read, at first, because we’re not used to books that challenge us nowadays. After slogging my way through the first 2 or 3 chapters I got used to it and it was a lot easier.

      Good book, learned a lot.

Then again, maybe liberals are buying it as a kind of instruction manual.

We’ve been exceptionally good Amazon customers since we began watching Glenn Beck’s show. So I’ll bet most of the conservatives and libertarians who watch Beck. If he plugs it they will read it.

I bought it, and I will read it from start to finish. I actually saw it linked to from National Review (the corner), went to Amazon, read the reviews and the description. Ordered it. Then I was surfing the net with Fox News on late last night, and there’s Glen Beck holding up the book I just ordered and all of the pieces fell in place in my mind. Glen Beck got me to buy a book and I didn’t even know it when I bought it.

Read Hayek years ago and again recently. His “The Fatal Conceit: The Errors of Socialism” is also a must read.

@ Kishke. Not me, unless you were talking about WATCHMEN, which is a graphic novel, a la Art Spiegelman’s MAUS.

Funnily enough, if you download the condensed version (free), there is a comic version in the back!
