Amazon.com Vs. Conservatives
By Kyle | November 24, 2009
Do conservatives get attacked at Amazon.com? Yes, says Michael Walsh, author of the thriller “Hostile Intent.” I don’t doubt it but I also don’t doubt that Amazon is pretty open and transparent. It’s like Wikipedia, in other words: If conservatives aren’t being heard it’s because we’re not bothering to write in. We can and should complain that the media is biased. However, when it comes to those corners of the media that are actually open to citizen input, if we are complaining that the liberals are simply working harder, shame on us. (Via John Nolte and Andrew Breitbart’s hard-charging Big Hollywood.) Meanwhile, National Review writer John J. Miller’s historical thriller “The First Assassin” has generated a lot of favorable reviews on Amazon — and some liberal attacks.

In this case, “working harder” entails spurring your ideological colleagues to bombard an author’s work with negative reviews on Amazon.com without actually reading it. It’s always difficult for one with a shred of integrity to match the rhetorical output of one who has none. In this case, I’d be content to see conservatives outdone by liberals, because that behavior ultimately speaks for itself.

Walsh is fighting at a disadvantage, as his book entirely merits poor reviews by those who have indeed read it.
