    “2012″ for Best Picture!

    By Kyle | October 30, 2009

My esteemed colleague Lou is making the case for “2012″ as a Best Picture nominee. Yes, and “All About Steve” for Best Actress! I don’t know what’s got into the big man but I’m willing to bet a DVD boxed set that “2012″ will not be in the winner’s circle. I’m guessing the nominees will be (I haven’t seen some of these movies, but whatever): Inglourious Basterds, Up, Up in the Air, Nine, The Lovely Bones, The Hurt Locker, Invictus, An Education, A Serious Man and Precious. The only three of these I’ve seen and loved were Up, An Education and Inglourious Basterds. Up wouldn’t ordinarily be in there, since it’s animated and that’s what the animated category is for, but voters are going to have such a hard time filling out this list (bad time to switch to ten nominees) that they’ll throw it in there anyway.

All the explosions in the “2012″ commercials and trailers are John Cusack’s career as a serious actor incinerating in fireballs all around him. Hope the check was really big.

Best movie I saw this year was “Up.” Extremely well-crafted and endearing film.
