Devilish Nolte Slams “Angels & Demons”

    By Kyle | May 15, 2009

“There’s a lot of ‘It’s better than “The Da Vinci Code”‘ flying around. That’s like saying it’s smarter than Nancy Pelosi.” So says John Nolte at Big Hollywood. He also thinks it’s anti-Catholic (I don’t, particularly, but then again, as a Catholic, I take marching orders from the Vatican, which has no major problems with the film). I find the movie much less plodding than “TDVC” and I was really enjoying it at first. It gets increasingly silly as it goes along, saving some of the most ridiculous stuff you’ve ever seen for the end. I half-heartedly recommend it.

I thought that you’re an atheist or agnostic. Are you saying that you’re a Catholic in the “once a Catholic, always a Catholic” sense?

Or maybe I’m confusing you with Moxie, who is much more beautiful ….

Didn’t find A&E anti-Catholic at all.. Maybe anti-logic? I was fascinated with the pseudo-scientific silliness–the whole premise of “dangerous antimatter..” A vial of “antimatter” stolen from CERN is possibly the safest thing to knock around the house. Apparently it’d take CERN billions of years and a few septillion Euros to create enough antimatter that could pose any threat..

Also, while the film makes an effort to portray the garb and insignia of Catholic prelates accurately, it shows CERN scientists in lab coats.. Huh? Analyzing antiprotons on a computers screen at a sub-sub-sub-sub atomic level is not like handling hydrochloric acid in a chemistry lab, Ron Howard, you great storyteller of our times, you!

Otherwise enjoyed the film heaps, actually. Funny no critic has yet huffed about the science faux-pas, much more glaring than any perceived anti-Holy See bias..
