    “Up”: Funniest Pixar Movie Yet?

    By Kyle | May 13, 2009

Lou has the scoop on the early reviews of Disney/Pixar’s “Up,” said to be another classic and the funniest Pixar movie yet. They’re showing it to New York critics next Wednesday, I think. Just to rattle Hunter’s cage, my list of favorite Pixar movies in order:

    1. Ratatouille
    2. Toy Story 2
    3. The Incredibles
    4. Finding Nemo
    5. A Bug’s Life
    6. Toy Story
    7. Monsters, Inc.
    8. Wall-E
    9. Cars

      1. The Incredibles
      2. Ratatouille
      3. Wall-E
      4. Finding Nemo
      5. Toy Story 2
      6. A Bug’s Life
      7. Toy Story
      8. Monsters, Inc.
      9. Cars

Amazingly, barring your eccentric neocon nitpicking with Wall-E, we are almost on the same page. You have better taste in children’s movies than you have with adult fare, which is a good thing for your daughter.

I would have probably put Wall-e under Cars. I was unimpressed by both. Here is mine:

      1. Ratatouille
      2. The Incredibles
      3. Finding Nemo
      4. A Bug’s Life
      5. Toy Story 2
      6. Monsters Inc
      7. Toy Story
      8. Cars
      9. Wall-E

Wow. I think A Bug’s Life is getting far too much love and Cars is getting too little.

They were all pretty good, except Cars, which I found unwatchable, and A Bug’s Life, which was just dumbish. I’m not planning to ever watch The Dance of the Robotic Garbage Cans, so I’ll never know if it’s any good.

The Incredibles is one of my Top 5 of all movies. Something about the comic sensibility in that one just slays me.

      “No capes!”

I love the movie, but I do think it goes on too long in the 3rd act. Otherwise, perfect.

I’m a few Pixar films short of the full roster, but mine would go:

      1. The Incredibles
      2. WALL-E
      3. Toy Story
      4. Toy Story 2
      5. Ratatouille
      6. Cars

Maybe it was that I watched it on Thanksgiving at my ex-girlfriend’s house, but I completely failed to see what the hype was about “Ratatouille.” I found my attention wandering much more often than I’d have liked it to.
