    Movie Star For Climate Czar

    By Kyle | November 12, 2008

Jules Crittenden takes a look at potential Obama cabinet appointments headed by Al Gore as Warming Warlord or Carbon Colossus. One wee problem: Al Gore is partner in a private-investment firm dedicated to investing in green technologies and therefore stands to benefit hugely from any government mandates, subsidies or changes in regulation aimed at fostering a green revolution. It would be like trying to head Raytheon and the Pentagon at the same time. Or can there be no conflict of interest if you are sufficiently well-meaning? (Also, I doubt that Gore wants to be a mere cabinet functionary–a Donna Shalala of the Greenhouse Effect…being the star of an Oscar-winning film and a Nobel laureate, he would be accepting a demotion if he joined the cabinet).

That’s what people have been failing to acknowledge from the start with Al. This is all about his business. Al also owns significant shares in a carbon trading firm and on an unrelated matter 5% of Google. The man is now worth over $100 million dollars for crying out loud anyone who sees his “mission” as more than a money grab is horribly naive.
