    By Kyle | October 3, 2008

The film is “Beverly Hills Chihuahua.” The audience is the fire hydrant. My review is up.

This movie is on my ever expanding list of “How Did This Get the Greenlight?”.

      Kyle,

What is the most insufferable movie you can ever recall having to do a review for?

My least favorite movie is “Gummo,” though I never wrote a review of it. As for ones I reviewed, I guess I would go with Terry Gilliam’s “Tideland.”

“Tideland” was pretty awful. My least favourite movies in recent memory are “A Beautiful Mind” and “Far From Heaven” which both bored me so much that I found myself looking at the theater’s fixtures and fittings, and “Punch-Drunk Love” which was so awful that I actually walked out.

      Hunter,

Thank god!! Someone agrees with me on A Beautiful Mind and Punch Drunk Love! Why were critics so enamored with those two movies? I’ve always thought critics feigned liking certain movies thinking that liking something that no one else did would make them seem deeper and more cultured (this is also how Bob Dylan became a hit).

      Kyle,

Fortunately my gut instinct told me to avoid Tideland so I’ve never suffered through it. The worst movie I recall ever enduring was Party Monster, though in my defense I only made it about 45 minutes in. Also I’m throwing Gangs of New York into the mix since I couldn’t finish it either.

When I was working on a local paper many years ago, I had to sit through something called “Cop and a Half”. It was more like crap and a half. The kid borrows from Eddie Murphy in 48 hours when he says, “I’m your worst nightmare - an eight-year-old with a gun.”

      Jules,

That does sound horrible. It sounds like a spoof from MadTV.
