True to an extent, but not entirely. STEM degrees, for example, signify the acquisition of actual knowledge, without which it would be impossible to do the job. Some education degrees do the same, as do psychology degrees. Medical degrees, obviously. And so on.

Too many occupations require useless credentialing to gain entry. Too many occupations are now offered advance degrees terminating in PhD’s. A relative is pursuing a PhD in Dental Hygiene..I asked her what exactly she learned with her Master’s degree and she was unable to tell me. My niece got a Business Degree with Accounting concentration and must complete a mandatory 5th year before she is allowed to sit for the CPA exam. She was also unable to discuss simple supply and demand interaction with me. Higher Education is a leviathan which sole purpose seems to be ensuring its own survival and expansion rather than edifying the paying customers. It is coming upon an epic market adjustment.
