      Kyle Smith – When you were working for the New York Post, you wrote a number of pieces sympathetic to Donald Trump. Now that you work for National Review, you are a full-throated NeverTrumper.

      Which viewpoint represents your true feelings?

      I’m not sympathetic to Trump and never said I was. I think the animus toward him sometimes borders on hysteria, and I’ve written about that. I also have tried to understand why people like him, and have written about that.
